It \u00a0joins with Juvenile Justice in prevention of school dropout and juvenile delinquency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cefocusing.com\/isthisyou\/3a1c.php\" title=\"Creative Edge Education\">Creative Edge\/ Differing Gifts model\u00a0<\/a> can apply to all education, but the education of those children labeled as \u00a0having \u201cAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or \u201cAttention Deficit Disorder\u201d and other learning differences \u00a0is an urgent area needing response.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u201cAttention Deficit Disorder\u201d simply defines children in terms of their \u201cdeficit\u201d in the ability to participate in and benefit from traditional, passive, obedience-based education.<\/strong> These children receive a positive definition for their \u201cunique abilities\u201d in the Myers-Briggs and Keirsey definitions of differing temperaments and learning styles. The child with an SP, hands-on learning style, called The Artisan by Keirsey, can excel in an active, independence-based, hands-on learning environment, steered toward careers which maximize the use of these special skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a traditional classroom, where obedience and passive learning are the watch word, the Guardian children (who make up one-third of the typical classroom) have an advantage, while the Artisan children (which, according to Keirsey, make up another one-third of every classroom!):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Are doing the \u201cwrong thing\u201d all day long, given their inability to \u201csit still, listen, and obey.\u201d<\/strong> Their behavior is just the opposite, a need to learn by moving, and by their own hands-on, trial and error, not by passive listening. The medications like Ritalin help them to \u201csit still,\u201d to conform to the traditional model.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Are being punished all day long for doing the \u201cwrong thing,\u201d ending up in time-out, in the hall, in detention.<\/strong> Their self-esteem and trust in themselves to make good judgments are destroyed, encouraging them to identify themselves as \u201closers,\u201d \u201cbad kids.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Are pushed out of school<\/strong> and into school dropout, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, drugs, and other high-risk behavior.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Become our lower-tier<\/strong> of \u201cworking class poor\u201d or jobless people.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Needed instead: Hands-on and other learning approaches which respect their different learning style and lead to careers which they can thrive in.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Of course, legislation at the national or state level specify academic content which must be learned by every student, as an attempt at holding educators responsible for delivering an equal product to all learners.<\/strong> This seeming conflict with a Creative Edge model, which aims at maximizing the unique, creativity-motivated learning of each child and producing creative, innovative, self-motivated and collaborative adults, must be given attention in finding compromises which work to the advantage of each child.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Join the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/groups.yahoo.com\/group\/creativeedgecollab\" title=\"Creative Edge Collaborators e-group\">Creative Edge Collaborators yahoo group\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0for further brainstorming with interested others, find \u201cone small step\u201d people are willing to do, create action plans for carrying out our mission, and use our power as a concerned \u201cgroup\u201d to approach legislators, foundations, whoever has the power to bring listening\/focusing into education.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The goal?
